Amy L. Silverstein

Amy is a co-founder of the firm and partner in its San Francisco office.  Over more than 25 years of practice in the SALT field, she has earned a reputation as a savvy and determined SALT lawyer.  Amy has represented hundreds of clients, including many of the nation’s largest companies, in matters involving almost every type of state and local tax.  She has appeared before administrative tribunals and courts nationwide, including the California, Texas, Oregon, Minnesota, and Michigan Supreme Courts.  Amy has served as lead counsel in many high-impact cases involving cutting edge legal theories.  She maintains extensive governmental contacts within California and has negotiated many favorable settlements for clients.

In 2015, Amy was recognized as State Tax Notes’ “Person of the Year” for “her exceptional litigation work on constitutional issues in state taxation.”  She has been named as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2006.  Prior to co-founding the firm, Amy was a partner in the international law firm Morrison & Foerster LLP.
